November was a doozy of a month between the US elections, continued COVID-19 shut downs across the globe and leading my Fall 2020 Virtual Training Retreat for Highly Sensitive Entrepreneurs and Leaders from around the world over a span of two weeks! Soooo … I kept my personal time really, really light to support myself with keeping my sh*zzzz together.
Here’s where I’m at this month…
1. Becoming Duchess Goldblatt, by Anonymous – About mid-October I walked into my local bookstore, Shakespeare & Co, and desperately asked the store attendants for something light to read. After checking to make sure I was actually ok, the talented attendant recommended this delightful book.
It’s an amazing true story about the anonymous author and her invention of a fake character who takes on a life of spreading goodness on Twitter. Personally, I find that particular social media platform overwhelming and toxic, so I have not witnessed The Duchess in real-time action, but the story is truly a delightful, light, inspiring read and it’s just so heart-warming knowing social media is being used for this type of creative good. You can also find it on Amazon.
1. Gilmore Girls (Netflix) – Ok, honestly, I’ve lost count of the number of times and various ways I’ve watched this show over the years, but this past month I dove into a welcomed return to the world of Stars Hollow by jumping into Season 4 and I’m still going … it might last me until the end of this wild ride of a year. We will see. 🙂
1. NYC Playlist (Spotify) – Being a part of November 7th, 2020 in NYC was an amazing experience of joy, relief and celebration. I’m so grateful I was able to be a part of history in this way. So, I’ve been keeping the celebratory vibration going with full joy through this playlist.
1. Robyn Schall Comic (Youtube) – This isn’t a tool per se, but I am going to take a moment to give a shout out to one of my former high school drama students turned professional comedian who had a Tik Tok video go viral on 11/16/20.
We were supposed to meet up for a walk in Central Park the Wednesday of that week and I received a text that said, “I can’t meet for our walk. My video has gone viral and interviews and meetings are pouring in. It’s exciting!”
Then to watch what has happened for this talented young woman I’ve known for years (who also happens to have one of the biggest hearts) has been nothing less than thrilling. It’s a feel-good punchline ending to this crazy ride of a year we’ve all been on together.
If you haven’t already seen it, (seriously, she’s everywhere) hopefully it will give you a good laugh – that’s all she’s ever wanted. Enjoy!
Hope you find something useful (or just plain fun) in these recommendations to support yourself with keeping it all moving forward during these Exceptional Times as a Highly Sensitive Leader.
I’d love to hear what you’re reading, watching and listening to as well. I’m always open to being introduced to something new and will happily give you credit if it’s something I end up latching onto. Just hit “reply” and let me know. 🙂
We will continue to transcend these times – together.
