Now, over my 20 years of being self-employed (yay, me!) I’ve come to realize that many Highly Sensitive Entrepreneurs (HSEs) experience the same sensation and that actually, and weirdly, this is a good thing. Here’s why. It shows that the “call” to use the gifts we’ve been given as highly sensitives in service to others is bigger than the innate need to protect oneself from overwhelm.
But, again, it’s an agonizing conundrum.

Here’s what my 20 years of being highly sensitive AND highly successful in business have shown me helps:
-
- It’s not just about understanding you’re highly sensitive. It’s about knowing to what degree you’re highly sensitive and then working with that degree deliberately and intentionally. (Take the free assessment here to learn the degree of your sensitivity: www.thehseguide.com)
- Once you know the degree of your sensitivity, manage your energy accordingly and consistently. (The free assessment from 1. above comes with free access to one of my go-to energy management tools.)
- Apply your daily energy management directly to upleveling your money mindset. The doubt, fear and insecurity is directly related to how we are socialized to identify worth. (Hint: this tends to NOT equate to the strengths we hold as HSEs so there’s a neural pathway retraining that must take place).
These 3 steps have been foundational not only for me but the many, many fellow HSEs and Leaders I’ve mentored over the years. We have the full capability to create self-employed financial success as Highly Sensitive Entrepreneurs, but it does require a willingness to re-wire and do things differently.
Here’s to your true freedom!
