Living this way is exhausting. No wonder, according to Dr. Elaine Aron, author of The Highly Sensitive Person, that the research shows most highly sensitive people don’t just try to keep themselves from getting overwhelmed, but try to keep themselves from even the POSSIBILITY of getting overwhelm.
Yet, this fortress of HSP overprotection does not work if you desire self-employed success, or any sense of leadership success, for that matter.
This is why as a highly sensitive leader in training you commit to more clearly understanding what triggers you – puts you over the edge, trips your wire, flips your lid. All so you can then begin to back out from that moment of being flipped, tripped, put over the edge, and be able to make a different choice earlier BEFORE your nervous system has been hijacked.
This gives you access to the unique strengths you possess as an HSP that are poised to make you a successful entrepreneur and leader such as your ability to be intuitive, empathic and a deep listener. So you are able to show up in a position of “power with” when in relationship to your prospects, clients, team or anyone in your business and life.
They key is to be able to access these strengths even when, especially when, the pressure is on.

Reflection
Take a moment for self inquiry or journaling on the following questions:
What would have you triggered and taking another person’s reaction or response personally?
What is the opposite of what would have you triggered?
Next Inspired Action
Based on your answers to the above questions, what is one boundary that you can put in place right now and how do you plan to follow through to hold that boundary?
