Why do we often wait until we’re on the brink of collapse to seek help?
This is a question I ponder often in my role as a mentor to Highly Sensitive Persons (HSPs) in business. In our journey through the professional world, we sometimes wear our endurance like a badge of honor, pushing to the point of burnout. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
Reflecting on my own path and the narratives shared within our Business Miracles community, I’ve seen a pattern: many of us don’t recognize the signs of burnout until we are deep in its clutches. I, too, have walked this path.
I’ve felt the creeping exhaustion that blurs the days and the passion that dims under persistent nervous system stress. Yet, it was in my deepest fatigue that I found the most profound sources of strength—community and connection.
Change often begins with a simple yet powerful realization: we are not alone. This was a transformative revelation for me and many others, like Teri, a dog trainer who found her turning point when she reached out for support. Embracing the collective strength of our community, we learn to lean on others, to delegate, and to trust—not only in others but in ourselves.
Building a supportive network allowed me to make strategic shifts in my professional life. I learned the importance of setting boundaries and prioritizing wellness, creating space for creativity and growth. This isn’t just about finding balance; it’s about creating an environment where we can thrive sustainably.
The journey from burnout to brilliance is not instantaneous. It is a gradual awakening, a series of small steps that lead to a larger shift. For many in our community, including Teri, it has meant rediscovering joy in their work and building businesses that not only succeed but also sustain their spirit and well-being.

Teri was on the brink of burnout in 2018, overwhelmed by the pressures of running her dog training business alone. She struggled with isolation and the immense burden of maintaining her company’s operations single-handedly
The turning point came when Teri embraced the concept of community and support, core tenets of Heather’s teachings for HSPs. Recognizing the need for help, she reached out, hired a team, and learned the power of delegation and trust.
With a new team in place, Teri implemented structured workflows and began prioritizing tasks that played to her strengths, particularly her deep empathy for animals and people, which enhanced her dog training programs.
As Teri built her team, her business flourished, allowing her to achieve not just her basic operational goals but her visionary aspirations. She reconnected with her passion for dog training, transforming it into daily celebrations of connection between pets and their owners.

Teri reflects on her journey with gratitude: “Joining the Business Miracles community in 2018 was a turning point in my life. I was close to giving up my business due to burnout, trying to do it all on my own. After deciding to ask for help and hiring a team, my business and my well-being flourished.
This journey hasn’t been without its ups and downs, but each step has taught me the importance of embracing change and seeking support. Today, I practice my sacred gift in dog training, connecting people and dogs, and celebrating them daily.
The lessons I’ve learned here have not only helped my business to thrive but have also allowed me to achieve my visionary goals. I am grateful every day for the opportunity to grow and contribute to this supportive community.” – Teri Thomas
Her words resonate deeply, echoing the experiences of many within our community who have moved from surviving to thriving.
I invite you to consider your own experiences. Are you nurturing your resilience? Are you part of a community that uplifts and supports you? If not, remember, it’s never too late to seek out connections that can turn burnout into a path to brilliance.
