I remember waaaay back in 2009 when I first got the intuitive hit that I was meant to coach other HSPs in business. I had been on my own year-long “dark night of the soul” of reckoning with my new awareness of what it actually meant to be a highly sensitive person and what this meant for me as a self-employed person. I did a lot of soul-searching and research, and made significant changes to how I marketed, sold, and operated my business. I knew I was meant to be sharing everything I had discovered with other HSPs like me.
So, of course, I shared my intuitive insight with the business coach I was working with at the time, and I will ALWAYS remember what she said, “You absolutely cannot use the words ‘highly sensitive’ in your marketing. It will be the death of your business.” See, I know it might seem odd now as we enter into 2026, but almost 20 years ago, NO ONE was talking about what it meant to be HSP, let alone taking a stand to coach HSPs to be more empowered as business owners.
Yet, my heart knew.
I am now entering my 23rd year as self-employed, with 16 of those years serving as coach, teacher, and mentor to more HSPs in business and leadership than I can count.
